Job Overview:
Bid estimators are responsible for evaluating bid specifications and blue prints ensuring that the company knows everything required to successfully bid and win the project contract. The ideal candidate will be responsible for appropriately evaluating the cost of a project for a US based company. He must aggressively follow up with general contractors and architects to ensure bids are received, understood, and complete.
Job Responsibilities:
Perform precise quantity take-offs of glazing materials and components to determine accurate project costs
Maintain communication with General contractors, third party contractors as well as product vendors.
Prepare subcontractor bid packages and ensure that the company has proper coverage from subcontractors, labor, and materials on bid day.
Contract supply houses to obtain additional vendor and subcontractor bids.
Enter all relevant information from quotes into appropriate files.
Review bid requirements thoroughly and ask follow-up questions on every bid.
Perform a comprehensive “Bid day” analysis and scoping of specific trade information.
Understand how to fit subcontractors and vendors to the proper size and scope of the project.
Create bid lists that fit trade specification, ensure that the correct manpower and materials for each project.
Consistently follow up on submitted bids and budgets with Architects and construction managers to close business.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of experience as a construction estimator, bid estimator specifically with US construction projects.
US Market Knowledge: Strong understanding of US residential construction methods, materials, and local building codes.
Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
Software Expertise: Proficiency in estimation tools such as PlanSwift, RSMeans, Buildertrend, Revit and AutoCAD.
Analytical Skills: Excellent analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving abilities.
Teamwork: Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, remote environment.
Organizational Skills: Outstanding attention to detail and organizational capabilities.
Project Management Principles: Familiarity with project management principles and practices in the US market is a plus.
