About the Role:

We are seeking a seasoned Xactimate Estimator with hands-on experience in residential construction and restoration within the Midwestern United States. This role is critical to our fire damage restoration business – accuracy in scoping and estimating is everything. If you don’t understand how a home is built, from the framing to the roof trusses to the lath and plaster walls, you’ll miss the details that cost thousands.

You must have deep knowledge of how American homes (especially duplexes and older builds) are constructed in the Midwest – from 2×4 and 2×6 framing, to ceiling trusses, subflooring, plaster and lath, and other interior structural components. Most of our work is interior-out fire damage, so the estimator must know how to accurately write complete interior rebuilds.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform detailed and accurate damage assessments and write full-scope estimates using Xactimate X1/X2.
• Understand Midwest residential construction materials, techniques, and code requirements.
• Document all components needing replacement due to fire, smoke, or water damage – especially interiors.
• Identify and include all necessary framing, structural, finish materials, and mechanical components in the estimate.
• Work closely with project managers and field teams to ensure estimates are complete and job-ready.
• Maintain consistent communication with adjusters, homeowners, and insurance reps.

Required Experience & Skills:

• 10–15 projects of experience in residential construction or restoration in the Midwest region.
• Proven proficiency in Xactimate (certifications preferred).Deep understanding of Midwest housing: framing types, roof structures, plaster/lath walls, subflooring, and finish materials.
• Experience working on fire-damaged homes, including complete gut and rebuilds. Strong attention to detail — must know how fire damages structures from the inside out.
• Excellent communication and documentation skills.
• Ability to walk job sites and assess damage (remote scope writing may be considered for exceptional candidates).
