Job Description

Our client specializes inย residential earthwork and grading design, primarily forย custom homes on rural and semi-rural lots, with additional work onย subdivision and urban infill projects. They work closely withย San Diego County, Riverside County, and 37+ local jurisdictions, each with unique grading and drainage requirements.

Grading Design & Earthwork
  • Develop grading plans from topographic surveys
  • Establish building pad elevations
  • Design balanced cut-and-fill grading
  • Prepare earthwork quantity calculations
  • Design grading for pads, driveways, access roads, and retaining walls

Drainage & Stormwater Design
  • Analyze existing and post-development drainage
  • Ensure no increased runoff to adjacent properties
  • Design swales, drainage channels, storm drains, and detention systems
  • Prepare stormwater management plans and hydrology reports

Hydrology & Hydraulic ModelingPerform hydrology calculations (Rational Method, NRCS, etc.)
  • Useย EPA SWMMย for runoff and hydraulic modeling
  • Design detention systems to match pre-development conditions

Permitting & Coordination
  • Prepare residential grading plans for county and city submittals
  • Respond to agency plan check comments
  • Coordinate with surveyors, geotechnical engineers, structural engineers, and architects

  • Proficiency inย AutoCAD, Civil 3D, andย EPA SWMMย (required or strongly preferred)
