Cost Estimator – Flooring & Concrete (Construction)

Job Description

Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Cost Estimator with a strong background in flooring and concrete to join our construction team with US clients. The successful candidate will be responsible for analyzing project plans, specifications, and other documents to prepare accurate cost estimates for commercial and residential flooring and concrete projects. This role requires in-depth industry knowledge, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with project managers, clients, and subcontractors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review architectural and engineering drawings, project plans, and specifications to determine scope and requirements.
  • Prepare accurate quantity take-offs and cost estimates for flooring (e.g., tile, hardwood, laminate, carpet) and concrete work (e.g., slabs,
  • foundations, sidewalks, driveways).
  • Obtain and analyze quotes from suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Prepare detailed proposals, bid packages, and change order estimates.
  • Identify and evaluate potential project risks and provide pricing strategies.
  • Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, and project walkthroughs as needed.
  • Collaborate with project managers, superintendents, and other stakeholders to ensure accurate and competitive pricing.
  • Maintain an organized database of historical costs and supplier pricing.
  • Monitor project costs during execution and assist in budget tracking and cost control as needed.


Qualifications:

  • Proven experience (3+ years) as a Cost Estimator in the construction industry with a strong focus on flooring and concrete.
  • Thorough understanding of construction methods, materials, and building codes related to flooring and concrete.
  • Proficiency in estimation software (e.g., PlanSwift, Bluebeam, Microsoft Excel, or similar tools).
  • Strong mathematical, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to interpret blueprints, drawings, and technical documents.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently and under pressure to meet tight deadlines.


Preferred Qualifications:

Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).Knowledge of current market pricing and local subcontractor/vendor network.
